An homage to the soft light and shadow of paper and the beautiful presence of the horizontal and vertical lines of shoji a traditional Japanese architectural fitting.
This is a developed version of PIXEL, which was first presented in 2017.
As a result of refining the design within an interior space whilst maintaining its flexibility as an architectural material, I have used a highly permeable paper for the form instead of a light shielding plate which was used in the previous design.
Using a highly reflective white paper and precise laser cutting technique to create a 0.4mm slit, the details of the screen's beauty has been refined to the highest degree.
This is a fruit of my experiment to trap the essence of natural scenery like the transitioning colors of the sky and clouds in a space using light and shadow, which re abstract and familiar elements in our lives.
